not sure what to call this post but i thought i needed to do a little celebrating. so i found a goal to work toward last October, the Nike woman's Marathon in San Francisco. I wasn't sure were to start on this new adventure but i knew i wanted to do it. i started to run the canyon trail and that was awesome, not only because it's so pretty and quiet but its hill-y and so is San Francisco.
I was doing awesome i started the military diet (found on pinterest) and that has really helped my portion sizes. i do find it hard to stick to some days because the same thing is starting to get old, but as long as there is no queso chips or cake around I'm good. :) Nike came out with a 10k in march that anyone can do, i thought why not that is half of a half Marathon. this was a great idea because it was a lot closer then my half so i really had to get on it in way of training, but all i could find were the printable calenders and that for me is a no go so one night i got a thought hey don't you have a smart phone there has got to be at least one app that could help. what do you know there are more then one and they have 5k 10k and half so dang i was set. i thought about starting with the 5k one and then working up to the 10k because I'm a swimmer not a runner. but looking at the time between when i would start and my 10k i just started with that and then doubled up the weeks so i could finish it before my race. all i can say is at least it isn't going to be like that for my half i will have plenty of time to do that trainer. before today it's been intervals of running and walking and i have loved it!! so last night was 5min warm up then 8min run 5min walk 8min run then cool down, this morning is one i wish i had a treadmill for 20mins of running. I'm not sure what my rpm should be on a elliptical for running but I've been trying to do the running parts at or a little around 7 and my walking at 4.5. this mornings 20 min run was between 5.6 and 7.3 haha not good, i like to try to stay consistent but my legs weren't having it this morning. i wish there would have been a gym at the hotel we are staying at in Vegas this weekend for work, i would re do it on a treadmill. but the thing I'm celebrating is the weight loss that has come with the training and eating better. that's right I've lost 15lbs, it's gross to think that this much fat has been sitting somewhere on my body but awesome to know its gone!
I'm not sure what the future has for me (like if i will even draw out for the half) but i do know now that working toward running a race has been way more positive then thinking about the 62 lbs i needed to lose starting back in October. it's nice to have that 62lbs down to 47 without just working for weight loss and having a bigger picture. thank you to all your positiveness that you've all shown me and the little pushes i get from you. big thanks to Justin for not minding being Bord well i workout or come home late from working out with Kasey after work at the gym some nights, and thanks to Kasey for telling me i can do it when I'm about to give up and for letting me talk her ear off lol :)
